Flies

Since I posted last the weather has been fecking hot. And I've been in hospital and had 2 teeth out and had loads of follow up appointments which meant loads of drugs and putty in my mouth. Did I say it's been hot?

Jezey started having some lessons at the field so obviously I got my oar in and said I wanted a crack too. Today I had my second one and I was a most fabulous boy and TW was super happy. My tummy is absolutely bob on at the moment and we reckon maybe its cos the weather has been so dry. Feck knows.

Afte rmy lesson bleddy Lyra had a groundwork lesson and she was good too. Too much fecking competition to be numero uno in these parts.

And the bleddy horse flies are eating us all alive.

best laid plans

So Sunday I was meant to do the sport endurance pink ride. I didn't go. The grass grew and my tummy grumbled, TW got nervous and I made it quite clear I was NOT going anywhere. So she took Jezey out for a walk up the trail instead. I ddn't mind so much.

Yesterday she arrived really early. Took me out of the field and gave me some food but I just wanted back in with the others. I got really annoyed when Brack was flirting with the girls too which stressed TW out.

A dude called Ross came to help TW get me on the box and then off we went. To the vets. To get my teeth sorted. Yuck. This was a new vets, a big vets with nice stables and a busy yard. So I had lots of friends to chat to. The nurse lady was very complimentary about me! Ha!

Anyhoo, I stayed all day and a special vet man from down south took out my two nasty teeth. One came out easily and the other I had to have a hole made in my cheek to take the other one out which they then stapled up. I got to stay overnight so they could keep an eye on me while TW went away . I even got a bran mash.

Today TW came to collect me with Boblet. I was still a bit stoned tbh. I walked nicely on the box as Boblet lifted the doors higher so there was more room for me. Then we trundled home. When we got home TW put hay out and I had a nice canter round the field and a roll. Noone else joined in though. Boring gits. Then it started raining. Great!

the chat

The weather has been fecking atrocious and everything is mucho behind schedule. To make matters worse Jezey has been out for a bleddy clinic while I have done naf all apart from get a bit skinnier.

This morning it was the second day of sunshine. TW gave us some hay and then said I was coming in for some grub. I most certainly was not. She then said if you don't come in then you won't go to  ride on Sunday. Gah! So I came in and had my grub and got dressed up. We went in the big field and TW hauled her fat ass up and we sat for a while just chilling.

Anyhoo, off we went and then she realised it was really slippy in the field. So I sorted her out and we strolled along chatting about the good old days. She really wants us to do 20 miles at Thoresby this year and I am up for that I reckon if my tummy stays ok and my teeth get sorted. There were some cows next door and TW likes cows so I went nice and close for her and we pottered about some more up and down the hilly field. Then she said we could walk across the top so I trotted and told her Jez had cantered this bit the other day, she agreed. So I had a tiny slippy canter too. We were both happy at that. No napping, no soreness, all good.

Sun

The sun is out again and everything is melting. When TW arrived me and Bee were grazing. We still want the hay though obviously. I shared my net with that Polly over the fence again,  it will be good when she can come in with us I think. TW tried to give me a scratch today to get rid of some hairs but I was not keen. So she best get worrying about my guts i reckon. I know she has ordered some vits and stuff again so that should be interesting to see how she managed to feed us all. Ha! Tbh I don't think we will all get vitamins or she will be bankrupted. There is an endurance workshop clinic thing on at the weekend and I am not 100% sure if she is taking Jez or not....we shall see. Hopefully we will get a bleddy dry week now .

icicles

TW wanted a lie in today. She didn't get one as there was so much snow and she was so worried that she crawled up to the yard as soon as it was light or therabouts. I think the roads were very bad. Anyhoo, when she got to us we were all covered in icicles and Mikka was shivering and shaking. Polly was still munching on her hay net from yesterday. Gah!

So TW gave us loads and loads of hay. And then some more hay. She tried to put a fleece and a rug on Mikka who promptly told her to feck off. Repeatedly. Jezey was sad today as they were meant to be going off for a nice ride but it was cancelled. Then she shuffled off in the snow. Later on she came back and gave us another bale of hay to share . And then went home and ordered some food for us and some vitamin supplements as she says this weather has made us all rotten and manky.

Pink

It is fecking snowing again. And windy. And absolutely fecking baltic. TW did three trips before 12.- which was most impressive and for once it wasn't because the water was frozen. Nesh dogs, hungry herd and a therapy session = 1 shattered and frozen TW!

She did a good job with huge hay nets today. Must have full tummies to keep warm. I have no idea when we are ever going to start getting fit though. She's booked me on my first SE ride of 2018 though much to Jezeys disgust as it is a pink ride and she wanted to go. TW remembered she had promised that I would do SE rides though so tough! None of us have even been in the bleddy horsebox yet though fgs.

psycho

TW went psycho today. When she got to the yard, Jez, Mikka and Misty had left Polly and got themselves into the bottom paddock and were galloping up and down shouting. In the rain. TW moved Polly out of the way and tried to get me, Brack, Lyra and Dilly into the big field. It didn't work. Eventually TW went a bit nuts which resulted in us all ignoring her until she apologised. I think it's a combination of being hangry, pre-season temper and ALL THIS FECKING RAIN!!! There's no excuse for it though.

We did get some hay though and she was very sorry but tbh by that point we all just wanted to eat. There's a holistic vet lady coming this way in April and she is thinking of taking me to see her to discuss my guts and stuff as it's in the diary that we are going to do 20miles at Thoresby in the Autumn. This has been our goal for the last few years btw.

TW says this is the shittest period of horse-ownership ever. Mardy arse. Although to be fair, Mikka and Polly have abscesses, Dilly is all itchy, Brack is getting ready for sweet itch season , I have poorly teeth and we are all covered in mud. Apparently under all our fluff me and Dilly are getting skinny which also isn't so good. Things will get better soon.
